Uva do Monte: Undone Chic on the Portuguese Coast - Remodelista
Recently Alexa and I discovered that we’d both been poring over Uva do Monte, a blueberry farm turned inn on Portugal’s secluded Alentejo coast.
The rooms were “inspired by local themes, colors, and feelings,” Mediterranean and Iberian design, and the surrounding farmland.
Artful mismatch and a woven lamp in a blue-toned suite.
The quirky structures of the original farm building were preserved.
Shades of ochre meet a charmingly dowdy couch in another suite.
We like the way the art is stacked vertically, rather than neatly aligned, on the walls. Shown here: the bed in a Double Superior room.
The adjoining bath features a vintage cabinet retrofitted as a sink and terracotta-colored tile.
Another Double Superior room in shades of green and blush pink, net canopy included.
The Countryside House can be booked as a family suite of four bedrooms or as individual rooms.
The Countryside House has textured pink walls throughout.
In addition to keeping many of the original architecture elements, we acquired decorative pieces and furniture from surrounding estates and local antique shops, including some of the textiles,” they say.

Above, L to R: The lobby area; the farm’s architectural quirks remain intact.
Breakfast is served daily; or guests can use the kitchen to prepare their own meals.
Fruit and vegetables still grow at the converted blueberry farm; the strawberries are free for the picking.
Outside, simple deck included.
“At night, when the sea is rougher, you can hear the waves at Uva do Monte,” they say.
