Sumptuous Blankets by Traditional Scottish Weavers Begg & Co.
January seems like a good month to replenish our stores of warm blankets and throws.
Around the turn of the 20th century, Begg & Co. moved to the southwest coast of Scotland, to Ayr, where it remains today, producing shawls, blankets, pillows, and more, all woven from natural materials like cashmere, angora, and lambswool.
Many of Begg & Co.’s designs are inspired by the area’s lochs, mountains, and beaches. The Junction Lambswool Cashmere Throw in Toffee is £495.
Begg & Co. regularly visits farms in Mongolia and China to ensure its fibers are ethically sourced.
The Arran Borderland Cashmere Throw is made of 100 percent cashmere; £930.
The Blue Green Lambswool Angora Throw and the Red Pink Lambswool Angora Throw are the colorful results of a collaboration with British artist Michael Wall, known for his abstract paintings; £650 each.
The lightweight Voyage Washed Cashmere Travel Blanket, shown in Marine, can be used as both a shawl or a blanket; £490.
