Remodelista contributing editor Izabella Simmons is a Swede with style to spare. When Izabella and her husband Brandon moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, to remodel an 80-year-old house, all her years of design research kicked in.
Izabella and Brandon worked with a local kitchen design store on the black and white cabinets; the design was their own.

Walls are painted Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White; $69.99 per gallon from Benjamin Moore retailers.
Kitchen counters are primarily Carrara marble while the island countertop is Silestone Engineered Quartz in White Zeus Extreme.

The island cooktop is a Bertazzoni Professional 36-Inch Drop-In Gas Cooktop (DB36600X); $1,542 at US Appliance.

The stacked microwave oven and wall oven are both from Ikea though no longer available. Ikea’s latest US model is the Nutid Thermal Oven in Stainless Steel; $795.

Izabella chose the Blanco Precision Undermount Super Single Bowl Stainless Steel Sink ($877.50 at AJ Madison for its depth: “10 inches to hide the dishes,” she says.

Izabella bought a vintage Coors Porcelain Funnel at a local estate sale. The funnel reminded her of her mother, a retired chemist, and her collection of laboratory vessels back in Sweden.
