We dropped in on Ann Stephenson and Lori Scacco a while ago to check out their 450-square-foot A-frame on Fire Island, which they bought in December 2014 and overhauled in time to move in by the start of the next summer season (see A Chic Fixer-Upper on Fire Island, Budget Edition).
The couple splurged on honed Carrara marble countertops from Stone World Imports of Farmingdale, New York, and saved on a narrow electric range and a simple Chicago kitchen faucet (see below for sourcing information).
Instead of spending on built-in cabinetry, they hung a simple white curtain to conceal the under-counter utility areas.
