Settle, a vacation enclave in Norfolk, is the passion project of Jo and John Morfoot: he owns nearby architectural salvage yard Morways Reclamation and Salvage, she’s a celebrated floral designer and stylist. Today, we’re spotlighting the one-bedroom cabin that John built using materials from Morways, a dream hideaway with a spa bath, a lakeside folly, and a wood-fired hot tub.
Sliding glass doors and a newly added built-in bench link indoors to out.
The interior is paneled in reclaimed wood. The benches front the kitchen counter.
The kitchen cabinets are from Ikea upgraded with custom birch plywood doors and drawers. The range is a Bertazzoni.
A table for two. The living area, bedroom, and bath are separated by pocket doors.
The wall-hung shelves are by Remodelista favorite Woodchuck.
The paneling continues in the bedroom—horizontal on the gable end, vertical everywhere else.
Jo succeeded in her campaign for a large spa bath with a lake view. In addition to the egg-shaped bath, there’s a tiled shower.
Guests at Settle receive a breakfast basket filled with local produce, sourdough bread, raw butter from Fen Farm Dairy, coffee and tea, and eggs from Jo and John’s own hens.
For nature-watching while steeping: made by Hikki of Sweden, a combination bathtub/hot tub with room for two adults and two kids.
