A trend we’re got our eye on: striated terra cotta bricks and tiles as warm, textural, thoroughly modern wall covering.
Sighting 1: In A Minimalist Longhouse on Denmark’s Fanø Island by Copenhagen-based practice Lenschow & Pihlmann, textured clay blocks serve as the only decoration.

We spotted a similar look in A New Red Hook Condo In Tune with the Neighborhood’s History, where terracotta bricks line the kitchen walls—just one of the materials that makes the new-build space look anything but.

Then the tiles cropped up a third time, in A Guest House and Residency at Château de la Haute Borde in the Loire Valley (pictured also in the featured image above), where MPM Architecture sourced materials from previous work sites to cut down on both cost and waste.
