Kitchen Tour: A Shaker-Inspired Cook Space

We took notice when the UK-based bespoke cabinetmaker deVOL opened up a New York City outpost not too long ago. This yellow and gray model Real Shaker kitchen showcases the line's appeal: “[It’s] designed to transport you to a French country kitchen in the height of summer,” says creative director Helen Parker. Shaker cabinets, plus paint, add vintage elements, and voilà.

“Cool stone floors, warm umber tones, and collections of items that evoke a cook’s kitchen,” says Parker.

Parker sourced many of the decorative touches—confit jars, oil paintings, Spanish baskets—from flea markets and antique fairs.

A full-sized Sub-Zero is hidden behind the left door of this tall cabinet; the door on the right conceals the larder.

The floor is made up of Brushed Charcoal Limestone Tiles by Floors of Stone.

The Single Fluted Sink is from deVOL, as is all the hardware, including the Aged Brass Mayan Taps by Perrin & Rowe and the Hanging Rail.
