Kitchen of the Week: A New-Build Kitchen in Mill Valley, CA, the Six-Month Check-Up - Remodelista

More than a decade ago, the couple bought a house on a large, flat lot near the city’s downtown, and lived there with their four children while dreaming of their “someday” home on the same lot. The new kitchen is full of light, all day long, with windows on three sides. The Fisher Paykel dishwasher drawer is simple and incredibly useful for all the overage and for tall glasses and large pots I can see us... ...using it as our primary dishwasher when our children are gone we ve grown old and leaning over isn t as easy as it once was And finally we had no desire to build in a microwave when we knew it would be dated in just a few years Trash and recycling bins are hidden... ...in a single pullout cabinet RM How would you rate your countertops I m almost always running late and making a mad dash for the door in the morning Double casement windows open the kitchen to the backyard and lawn. The custom cabinetry is painted in Farrow & Ball’s Oval Room Blue. I’ve loved blue from childhood, and the Farrow & Ball Oval Room Blue feels timeless. In the cooking zone, a 36-Inch Six-Burner Wolf Range is flanked by stainless steel drawers and countertops with a herringbone tile backsplash. A stainless steel warming drawer. CM: We went for an intelligently designed Viking fridge that was a huge cost savings over the Sub-Zero—it also doesn’t stick in that infuriating way when you open it twice in rapid succession. The walk-in pantry (opposite the refrigerator) is stocked with wine glasses, dry goods, and a freestanding microwave (powered by a built-in outlet). A Rancilio Silvia Espresso Machine stocks the coffee nook next to the refrigerator. A Mazzer Luigi Coffee Grinder sits next to a built in cabinet with adjustable shelves containing the coffee making basics The... ...empty shelves feel kind of indulgent to me in a good way not too much but there when we need them A Wolf Steam Oven is tucked beneath the coffee station.
