House Tour:  A Serene Home for a Violinist and a Physician, Inspired by Music

Photography by Laure Joliet

This house in California was designed by Beatriz Rose of Byrdesign for a violinist and a physician. The interiors are balanced and elegant, thanks to the inspiration: A “stellar performance of Vivaldi’s ‘La Follia’ helped me articulate the emotion for the house,” Beatriz says. Take a look.

The balanced living area.

"I began to toy with the idea of incorporating Roman arches, arcades, and barrel ceilings to shape and frame the interior views, says Beatriz.

Through a wide archway, into the kitchen.

“In the kitchen, dark cabinetry pairs with “a sturdy and prominent chef’s work table for a more casual and rustic appeal."

Cabinets are painted in Benjamin Moore’s Midnight.

Another archway frames a view of the kitchen/dining area.
