Recently, over dinner, a friend of mine said she thinks interiors trends are being cannibalized quicker now that we’re in the Instagram/Pinterest era.
The 1970s tiled countertop is having a moment, as in the above kitchen in Girona, Spain, by Arquitectura-G .We also admired the tiled counters in the Layer House in Australia by Robson Rak.

An emerging trend we’re seeing is the use of architectural glass—seeded, wavy, and Flemish types—in kitchen designs and on glass cabinets as seen here by Snark Architectures.
2. Architectural Glass
Linen sheets have been trending for a while now, but we’re starting to see them in more nervy colors (thanks to Merci), like these Workwear Blue Bed Linens at Conran Shop in the UK.

4. Excavated Style
Adding improvisation to the design process, architects and designers are exposing beams, rough plaster walls, and whatever else is found beneath superficial surfaces.
5. Framed Posters
We’ve noticed more framed art prints and posters in stylish interiors, thanks to gallery-like shops such as Picture Room in Brooklyn and Book/Shop in Oakland.
6. Kitchenettes
Back to basics: The latest trend in kitchen design is the kitchenette; compact kitchens with compact appliances pared back to the essentials.
Plaster and limewash walls seem to be everywhere; inspired by the Belgian interiors of Axel Vervoordt, perhaps, as in this project from Jersey Ice Cream Co. (above).
7. Surface Texture Paints
Designers are paying homage to traditional, artisan-made furniture with a primitive appeal; see Ed Clay’s Marolles Chair and Sue Skeen’s furniture (shown) for the New Craftsmen.

Is the luxury closet the new bespoke kitchen?
9. Bespoke Closets
Lately we’ve been gravitating to Portuguese design, as in the above bedroom at Baixa House in Lisbon, Portugal.
