At the Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse, Studio Dorion (partners Peter Dolkas and Michelle Ficker are Billy Cotton alums) used utilitarian pegboard painted a creamy white to create privacy shutters in a guest room.

NY-based designer Matt McKay was inspired by Jean Prouvé’s porthole doors when he designed hole-punched shutters for a West Village home’s street-facing windows.
