Coquo: Modular, Made-to-Last Furniture for Kitchens and Beyond, from Montreal - Remodelista

A few weeks back, we took a look at a black-and-white kitchen in a rentable apartment (and “curated lifestyle shop, creative incubator, and design space”) not far from our Manhattan offices, fitted with cabinetry from Montreal-based kitchen company Coquo.

“We make freestanding, functional kitchen furniture while you add the finishing touch, customizing every piece to make it your own and assembling it in minutes,” says Coquo.
Coquo focuses on quality, long-lasting materials. Coquo’s focus on making furniture, rather than the permanent built-ins of traditional kitchens, means the pieces can be moved and used throughout the house, including in living rooms and bathrooms, as needs change.
A Scandi-style kitchen with Coquo furnishings—including Volitare Cabinets (flanking the range), open-shelved Radix Cabinets (at right; from $1,279), and a Braccas Island with a Fenix countertop (from $1,299)—all in natural oak.
Above L: The tall Volitare Shelving Unit with metal shelves can be used “as a bookcase, cupboard, kitchen pantry cabinet or as a hutch;” from $1,299. Note also the Radix Wall Cabinet with glass doors, for displaying ceramics and glassware; from $1,229.
Coquo components fit with interiors of all styles, as seen in this traditional Parisian apartment, fitted with Volitare Armoires in oak (from $2,939).

Evidence that the furniture can be used in many ways, depending on need: here, a black Volitare Base (from $539) acts as a bench in an entryway.
One of innumerable arrangement possibilities.
Don’t know where to begin? Like the look of modular kitchens?
