Book Report: “Simplicity at Home,” by the Founder of Fog Linen

“I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the best way to inhabit this new space,” she Fog Linen Work founder Yumiko Sekine of her own recently built house in Tokyo, “which has given me fresh eyes and a renewed desire to live richly with less."  We have been admiring it along with her new book, Simplicity at Home. Take a look:

A table draped in a check patterned cloth of Yumiko's own design in her Tokyo house.

A vintage cabinet holds kitchen essentials; linens are stored in Yumiko’s own wire baskets.

Every detail is considered, down to the minimal dish rack.

“I often forget where I put things,” Yumiko says, “and when everything is on display, it’s easier to find what I’m looking for with open shelving."

“I believe a very pared down bedroom is best for sleep,” Yumiko says.
