Located on 10 acres (complete with pond, lily pool, bonfire pits, and an outdoor pavilion) in Mount Tremper, New York, in the Catskills, the Foxfire Mountain House has gotten a lot of attention since opening in 2015 (it was named to Monocle’s Travel Top 50 list in the December 2015/January 2016 issue.).

“Our goal in opening the inn was to be together more as the hours in both television and restaurants are so long, and I was often on the road traveling with a production,” Clark says.
The inn was built in the early 1900s as a hotel and boardinghouse.
The porch is tiled in patchwork Moroccan tiles the owners found in a Brooklyn warehouse.
The entry hall is anchored by a round table and the walls are hung with vintage finds (framed butterflies included) that the couple has collected over the years.
The floor-to-ceiling rustic stone fireplace in the lounge area was uncovered beneath a layer of drywall.
Most of the furnishings are vintage items found in the Catskills and the Hudson Valley.
The interior of the cottage received a head-to-toe coat of white paint; window frames are painted black for contrast.
