We met Christopher Howe in London almost a decade ago, when we happened upon his Pimlico Road shop, one of the most atmospheric and idiosyncratic spaces we’ve seen.

The stone barn is located in a meadow in Gloucestershire and is part of a larger property (grander main house included).
Howe gutted the interiors to create an open plan and used pieces from his own collection to furnish the interiors.
The loft space has guest accommodations.
We’ve admired Howe’s upholstered pieces, which feature hand-stitched horsehair and down filling, for a while now, and the way he piles on pillows made from scraps of antique fabrics.
The kitchen table is surrounded by Howe’s glossy-painted Windsor chairs, a longtime favorite of ours (see the chairs in green at A Notting Hill Townhouse Tailored for Living by Charles Mellersh).
As Howe says of his chairs: “We should all have at least one in a heart-rending color.”
The kitchen cabinetry is from Plain English’s British Standard line, a Remodelista favorite.
