Man owes much to fire. From warmth to light, cooking to a point at which to convene for discussion, the element has been front and centre of human activity since the dawn of time. Recognising an increasing redundancy for fire in favour of electricity in modern day life, Swedish lighting brand Wästberg has developed the ‘Holocene’ collection. The ‘Holocene No.1’ oil lamp was designed by Ilse Crawford and comprises a dish-like solid brass base in which oil can be burnt in a fitting tribute to the original source of light. The lamp does not include lamp oil.
