Description from ZAK+FOX
Volubilis takes its name from the long-abandoned Roman ruins which reside in Morocco, near Meknes. Though an earthquake destroyed most of the site in the late 4th century, the intricate mosaics and architecture have remained surprisingly well intact, even withstanding the test of time to this very day.
Our design draws from the wealth of inspiration there, combining the fine details of embroidery found throughout the Mediterranean with the imaginative tile-work seen on Volubilis’ grounds.
Our fabrics are printed on Belgian-made linen using water-based inks; because we are able to print low minimums with quick turn-arounds, we leave very little to waste. Due to the nature of our printing process, our fabrics may start to develop a slight patina over time as the fibers become naturally displaced. We embrace this quality and have created our designs with this in mind; we prefer the imperfect, favoring this over designs that are meant to look obviously antiqued.
Printed on: 100% heavy linen
Available colors: Umber, Alabaster
