Description from Bloomist
Designed by Bloomist, these simple hand crafted planters are made from local terra-cotta clay by artisans at the Atuto Group in Honduras exclusively for us. Available in large, medium, and small, each pot is whitewashed by hand after being fired.
Drainage hole built in. We recommend repotting plants from plastic containers into terra-cotta pots to improve drainage and aeration of the soil.
Plant large pots with taller specimens like monstera and small and medium pots with succulents and ferns. And elevate them off the ground with our made-to-match wrought iron plant stands, also hand crafted by Atuto artisans.
Wrought iron stands sold separately. Also available in Greenwash.
ABOUT ATUTO
A former Peace Corps volunteer from North Carolina, Holland Millis has worked with skilled craft-workers in Honduras for decades; his work there for Aid to Artisans merited coverage in the New York Times. Now, he leads the Atuto group in Sabanagrande, Honduras, which produces pieces made from clay, metal, stone, fiber, and wood — including the planters made from local terra-cotta clay that Atuto now produces for Bloomist.
