Description from Haydenville Broomworks
This broom originates with the Shakers and was first made in 1787. When Sister Ann Lee told her followers “sweep,” she was referring not only to the floor of the home, but also the floor of the heart.
The Shaker Broom has flat head and a sanded pine handle. No frills, just an excellent broom that lasts and lasts. Using the design pioneered by the Shakers, the broom head is stitched flat to provide a wider sweep. The broomcorn is secured to the handle using wire and following the Shaker aesthetic, does not include the woven handle featured on the Traditional Broom.
