Description from Shaker Workshops
Free-standing floor racks were commonplace in Shaker retiring rooms, kitchens, and wash houses. This one, still in use by the Shakers at the Sabbathday Lake, Maine community, is well suited for airing quilts and blankets, hanging towels, or drying wet socks and mittens. The original was finished with a wash coat of “chrome yellow” paint.
We make the Sabbathday Lake Towel Rack in clear hard maple. It measures 33″ high x 34″ wide x 6 1/2″ deep. Shown in Medium Stain with Lacquer Finish.
Available as an unfinished kit, a “ready to ship” finished piece, and a “made to order” finished piece. Please select the stain or paint of your choice (below).
Finished towel rack is shipped with feet unattached; a screwdriver is required for quick assembly.
