A beautiful handwoven “Cran” basket, traditionally used in the 1800’s for storring Herring. Lovingly re-created by master basket weaver John Cowan.
Both functional & decorative, this “Quarter Cran” basket was produced as part of “The Baskets of Britain” exhibit for Decorex 2015. Individually handmade using a variety of techniques from local Willow, Hazel, Oak and Rattan.
John is a traditional basket weaver based in Scotland, reproducing old basket designs that were once commonplace in agriculture and the UK fishing industry.
