Description from Dwell
The FDB J46 chair is a Danish design icon from 1956. The chair would prove the most popular success in FDB’s history and remains a popular choice today. The chair is characterized by its famous spindle backrest which combines a simple, timeless aesthetic that blends into any environment with detailed craftsmanship.
FDB (est. 1896) are Denmark’s longstanding cooperative of home goods producers. Since the 1950s, they have been recognised, both in the design world and Danish households, for their creative furniture studio which housed a generation of iconic architects and furniture designers, such as Poul Volther, Børge Mogensen and Ejvind A. Johansson.
With a democratic approach to furniture; FDB embodied the idea of well-made, everyday furniture with the functional refinement which so encapsulates Danish Design. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the J series; a refined and simple collection that is not simply furniture, but part of Denmark’s rich cultural history.
