Description from Rinarts
Tote bag Mondriaan nr.3 made from an antique European GRAIN SACK in ecru and blue stripes, and red, yellow and blue leather accents
Inspired by an exhibition about the work of Mondriaan (the dutch painter Piet Mondriaan) I made a few tote bags and named them after the painter. This is the third tote bag.
The Grain sack:
-very old European hemp fabric and linen/ flax grain sack I purchased at a Dutch antique shop.
Probably dated before 1890, because the top part of the sack is hand painted (see last composition picture). For this tote the bottom part is used
– heavy fabric and in excellent condition.
– original stitching of the bag left intact, because it is such a beautiful old detailing.
– inside zipper pocket (partially ) made of a piece of the same grain sack.
