Description from Furniture Marolles
The Marolles Chair has been relatively unknown until now. Fewer than 100 were produced in the 1950’s by the Artisans of Marolles, a cooperative founded by Jean Touret (1916-2004). Known primarily as an artist and sculptor, he made the first chair, without back, as a milking stool for his neighbor. We are privileged to have the support of the Touret family in our efforts to bring to this chair the recognition it deserves.
To meet the unique challenge of using the Marolles Chair in residential, hospitality, and commercial environments, we have expanded the collection to include a four-legged model as well as a beautiful counter stool.
