Description from HOWE
Christopher discovered the first ‘Dogbed Sofa’ on the first floor landing of Newark Park.
Resting high above a Cotswolds valley, a forerunner of the great country houses, Newark was originally built in the 16th Century as a hunting lodge for Sir Nicholas Poyntz and his courtier comrades.
24 years ago, before moving into the house with his family, Christopher visited to view the house sale of the previous tenants and spotted a wonderful sofa upon which two beautiful Great Danes lay sleeping. At the auction all those years ago, Christopher was outbid but never did forget that sofa.
Years later, he found another very similar sofa and remembered the Great Danes and how the design lent itself so happily to both man and dog.
Taking the concept a step further, Christopher developed the design to use materials that are practical for country living. The Dogbed sofa can reside in a hallway or entrance, dogs can bound on up and we can all enjoy the freedom of being gloriously muddy (and comfortable) at home.
Can be made with either a full width horsehair squab or feather and down seat cushion with removable covers, in your dog’s choice of fabric.
This example upholstered in a Swedish heavy duty mattress cover with weighty jute straps.
