Description from Design Within Reach
Recently reissued, the Lyngby Vase (2012) was first designed in 1936, when it had a very modern aesthetic for its time, markedly contrasting with traditional porcelain vases. Up until the 1920s, porcelain vases were focused more on decoration – painting, ornamentation and glazing – than on form and function. The Danish company Lyngby, which was influenced by the Bauhaus movement in Germany, challenged the norm in its assertion that material and form were enough to define a piece. The company created iconic porcelain from 1936 until it closed its doors in 1969. In 2012, architect Daniel Hilfling founded Lyngby by Hilfling and brought many classic pieces back into production. This vase features a sturdy fluted design that captivates with its simplicity. Dishwasher safe. Made in Germany.
