Description from Houseplans.com
The Long House plan by architect Nicholas Lee celebrates easy indoor-outdoor living. It's inspired by the modern ranch house designs of regional modern architect William Wurster, one of the founders of the College of Environmental Design at U. C. Berkeley. The layout is straightforward: rooms line up like cars on a train, from the spacious great room/kitchen at one end, past the office, bathroom, bedroom, and laundry to the master suite at the other end. Each room opens to the covered gallery running the length of the house. This gallery is wide enough for sitting and outdoor dining, and doubles as the entrance porch beside the kitchen.
