Portmeirion group is a british company that was established in 1961 by Potter Susan Williams-Ellis & her husband. They have broadened its customer base in the last several years with new collections, including Sophie Conran for Portmeirion. Her collection is an award-winning contemporary range designed for modern day living and is also a best seller for wedding registries.
Sophie Conran is a multi-talented designer and entrepreneur who is following in her father’s, international designer Terence Conran, footsteps. Sophie Conran’s kitchenware range for Portmeirion was introduced in the UK in march 2006 and also won the Elle decoration design award for ‘best in kitchens’ that same year. Her thoughts on her dinnerware are as follows: ‘as a cook you love your ingredients, you touch and feel the food you are creating, putting some of your soul into every meal. Wanting to conjure up those same feelings we created a range of really tactile products. They can be used every day, hopefully giving you a thrill every time.’
