For FX Balléry, design is a way to tell stories, and he created Les Perles Candlesticks (2011) as a way to reconnect to “the simple and childlike pleasure of stringing pearls,” says the French designer. Rethinking the traditional candlestick, his interactive solution with removable wooden beads gives the user many possible configurations with which to play. A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London and the L’Ecole Supérieure d’Art et de Design (ESAD) in Reims, Balléry boasts a portfolio of furniture design, packaging and product development. He worked on a special collaboration with Issey Miyake perfumes, and he designed a bag for Chanel and a picnic set for Hermés, which were honored with Comité Colbert awards. Les Perles Candlesticks are manufactured in the French Jura Mountains, an area renowned for its wooden toys. Made in France.
