On average, kettles last approximately 2-3 years. Designs tend to have an assembly of glued parts and clip fittings, making repairing them impossible. Kettles also waste energy through reboiling; an estimated £68 million worth of energy is wasted each year in the UK alone. This energy is wasted through unnecessary reboiling when the water is already hot enough, for example, green teas requires water to be 60-80 degrees Celsius.
