Product Information
Kocktail is a social sculpture and work of art that is activated by the experience of pleasure. Originally commissioned by the Centre Pompidou in 2004, the unique crystal ithyphallic flute was inspired by the numerous urban legends that the original champagne cup was cast from a mould of the left breast of either Marie Antoinette or Madame de Pompadour. The only response to an urban legend is to create a true legend, so I decided to insert myself into the historic gap and cast a champagne flute off my own royal member. In celebration of life and the healing power of love, the ancient spirit of wild nature rises up in honour of the transgender trickster gods Osiris, Mithras, Odin, Quetzalcoatl, Tammuz, Shiva and Dionysus. Whether you are queer or straight, cis or trans, male, female, or non-binary, Kocktail celebrates the transformative power of love as an organic, holistic, natural expression of the vital life forces of regeneration, friendship and community.
Kocktail is a healing ritual that protests the spirit of masculinity through the flow of spirit in harmony with nature, restoring the sacred expression of our collective sexual energy. The repression of sexuality creates tortured spirits that degenerate into demons of misogyny, homophobia, and bigotry. Healing heteronormative prejudice begins by learning to love our selves unconditionally, accepting our fragile broken imperfect bodies as beautiful and our desires as pure. Healing the world begins with healing ourselves first with the courage to love and respect the interconnectedness of all forms of life and every expression of spirit.’ Kendell Geers.
