Description from The New Craftsmen
A pair of unique ‘incalmo’ champagne flutes handmade by Jochen Holz, with a clear top combined with a coloured stem and foot.
‘Incalmo’ glassware is a traditional and complex Venetian technique where two glass elements are blown to be joined together in a single object.
Due to the handmade nature of the piece, we will handpick each pair. For specific preferences, please choose “specific” on the dropdown box below and a member of our team will contact you after purchase to go through option
The pieces are free-blown from Borosilicate (laboratory) glass, resulting in organic, one-off pieces. Each glass is heat and dishwasher proof.
Concentrating on the unusual technique of lamp working, Jochen is one of very few glass artists practicing this form of glass blowing in Britain. His design approach is guided by the making process and the flow of hot glass. Navigating the possibilities and restrictions of the technique and material, his objects range from free formed textured borosilicate tumblers and vases to coloured incalmo jugs and wine glasses.
