Description from Laviva Home
A tradition of the dogon people, each piece in our indigo collection is made in burkina faso – hand-stitched and hand-dyed from natural indigo (indigofera plant). The cloths are dipped in dye vats repeatedly over a period of days or weeks, imbuing rich color. Indigo is revered in traditional west african culture, prized for it’s rare beauty, nobility, and spirituality; babies swaddled in indigo are said to sleep peacefully.
