Handmade Paper lamp shades / Lokta Bougainvilliea petal paper lamp shades made in Nepal. Lokta Papers are exclusively and traditionally hand crafted by best artisans in the Himalayas region of Nepal using local labour and raw materials. These acid free papers are made without electricity no tree destruction. Lokta paper is prepared from the fibrous bark of the Daphine Cannabina, or Lokta in the local language, which grows at high altitudes in the Himalayas. The bark is boiled and beaten with wooden mallets to produce a pulp which is poured into wooden frames and sun-dried. The resulting Lokta paper is strong and attractive and can then be dyed, stenciled, printed and transformed into a great variety of attractive paper products.
