Designer Gaku Otomo brought a playful approach to an everyday functional item with the design of his J Hook (2004). Made of tinted silicone, the J Hook has enough pliability to hint at its gel-like origins. Its softness makes it suitable for a child’s bedroom or play area where it might get bumped, swiped or involved in any number of collisions. The virtue of silicone construction doesn’t end there; it lends an added friction between the garment and hook in order to help things better stay put. Five distinctive colors (each sold separately) can be mixed and matched, and literally swapped, once the mounting plate is firmly attached to the wall. Hardware to attach to a wood or drywall surface is included.
