Product Information
Designed by Maurer in 1980, the Floatation Suspension from Ingo Maurer is a suspension light made from Japanese paper shades and provides ambient illumination. Three handmade shades are suspended by thin metal cables and a red iron ring provides accent as well as acts as counterweight for height adjustment. The paper of Floatation is crinkled and this is an intended design attribute. The material can react to fluctuations in humidity and can change the rigidity of the shades.
For more than 40 years Ingo Maurer has created somewhat irreverent and thought-provoking designs in a method that is more exo-modern than contemporary. These experimentalist collections enliven fashion runways, monuments and private homes, giving Ingo Maurer lighting a name that resounds in the minds of the design-forward.
