Description from Beggars Velvet
Beggars Velvet FILTH and SMUT Dirty Soaps are 300gramme bricks of hand-poured glycerine soap made for us in Lancashire, England by Droyts, a family-run company producing soap since the mid 19thCentury.
Each bar is individually made. The liquid soap is first poured into a mould made from a Welsh slate master originally hand-carved in our Peckham studio.
The letters are ‘V’ cut and have a depth of 8mm. The translucent soap is turned out of the mould by hand, and left to dry, before being trimmed to size using a 100 year-old machine. The dirty soaps are then polished by hand before being wrapped and boxed. We like to think that each bar is a small work of art.
