Description from Farrow & Ball
Hardwick White doesn’t look very white to most people, unless you contrast it with very strong dark colours like Off-Black. It definitely is a traditional grey, less blue than Lamp Room Gray and with unsurpassed depth of colour. However it sits just as well in a contemporary room as it does in a historic house. Mid Tones Undercoat. The colourway used to touch up old white limewash at Hardwick Hall. Probably not thought of as white except in large areas or with strong dark colours.
