The Berea College cooling rack is not only a useful item in any baker’s kitchen, but it also marks a point of connection between craftsperson and public. For many, creating a cooling rack is the first opportunity a student will have to practice wood joinery or sit atop a shaving horse. These experiences are often shared at one of our campus retail locations as student demonstrators sit before a loosely forming crowd with their head and heart set to the careful handling of the wood beneath their blade.
