A very French solution, as long as you see the 2 CV rather than the Eiffel Tower as the pinnacle of French engineering – which is not altogether unjustified: simple (clip + socket + light source + shade = clip light), ingenious (the lamp shade is positioned on the light bulb with two wire loops and thereby uses it as a ball joint) combined with an attractive design. Although not meant for the hands of children, this light is great for thousands of uses: the traditional use as a reading light, for illuminating a book shelf, as a piano light and so on.
