Introducing the stars of serveware: earthy bowls you can set out on the table and put right into the fridge when you’re done eating. Each of Sarah Kersten’s clever ceramic nesting bowls comes with a lid that fits right on top, to keep your dishes warm on the table, or for storing them in the fridge for later. The lid also doubles as a trivet or platter. (Talk about multi-tasking!) You’ll travel in style to your next potluck with one of these bowls in tow, just hold on to it carefully, as the lid doesn’t seal and is not airtight.
The bowls fit into one another, so they won’t take up cabinet space (if you can bear to tuck them away). The medium (perfect for a big portion of soup) and large sizes (practically begging for a big salad or a heaping mound of mashed potatoes) are sold individually. The set of 3 includes a small size, that could house your mise-en-place, or keep a poached egg warm. Because each bowl is handmade, expect variation from piece to piece. The bowls are glazed in white, with the occasional dark freckle. The rim of the bowl is unglazed, giving you a peek at the raw clay inside, which can range from a buff tan to a ruddy brown. The clay and glaze are entirely lead-free and food safe.
