Part of the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016 is Le Corbusier’s Capitol Complex, created in Chandigarh in 1951, the architectural icon was designed in celebration of the independence of India.
Among the furniture used in the Legislative Assembly building is this iconic chair, an hommage to Pierre Jeanneret. The seating pieces constructed of solid wood feature side bars in an inverted “V” shape supporting the frame. The use of a woven backrest and seat, stretched across a wooden frame and uses of teak, are commonplace in the local area.
