Description from New Craftsman
Jochen Holz Borosilicate Glass Towel Rail, a functional piece made with a fluid design and supplied with mirror screws. Made exclusively by Jochen with The New Craftsmen as part of Decorex International 2016.
A contemporary take on a towel rail, made from Borosilicate- a durable and heat resistant form of glass. Designed with a fluid shape and mirror screws, the piece was made by Jochen Holz as part of a collection inspired by the concept of bathing and showcased at Decorex International 2016. Suitable as a functional piece.
Jochen Holz originally trained in lamp engineering and design in Germany before moving to Britain to study glass at Edinburgh College of Art and The Royal College of Art. Concentrating on the unusual technique of lamp working, Jochen is one of very few glass artists practicing this form of glass blowing in Britain. His design approach is guided by the making process and the flow of hot glass.
