Mogensen designed the sofa 2213 for his own home in 1962. With generous proportions, modest aesthetic, a choice of materials and execution second to none, the sofa achieves Mogensen’s ambition to create the ultimate sofa.
With a second to none choice of materials, construction and execution, the Børge Mogensen Select Collection models are the finest in quality and completely unique in their beauty as they age.
Perhaps this is why the series is seen in embassies, executive offices, minister’s cabinets, upscale hotels and the most elite of homes around the world.
The prototype of Sofa 2213, was originally designed for Mogensen’s own home in 1962 with the frank ambition to simply create the ultimate sofa. Børge Mogensen found his inspiration in British Hall Porter’s chairs as well as sofas designed by his master Kaare Klint in the 1920’s.
In addition to its functional and aesthetic qualities, the Børge Mogensen Select Collection draws upon the 100 plus years of Fredericia’s manufacturing experience. The structured, yet fluid, visual shape of the collection requires a selection of only the finest materials.
From the solid hardwood frame construction, to the carefully measured ratio of foam to feather in the cushions, the collection is thoroughly uncompromising. The bull hides used at Fredericia are of the highest calibre, from animals that have been raised under strict ethical guidelines.
Every sofa and chair in the collection is 100% hand crafted and upholstered in our factory.
