Description from Permanent Collection
These elegant, Blunk Double Hoop earrings feature two interlocking 14k recycled gold hoops and a sliding bone bead. Crafted by hand in Helena, Montana, these earrings are modeled on a unique piece of jewelry made in 1975 by the legendary Northern Californian artist J.B. Blunk. The originals, composed of 18k gold and ivory, were a gift for the artist’s wife, Christine Nielson. Blunk began making jewelry in 1954 at Palos Verdes College in Los Angeles where he taught ceramics – he continued to make special, one-off pieces throughout his life from his studio in Inverness, California.
Permanent Collection selected these earrings, as well as the Blunk Bangle in Collection Two, to be faithfully reproduced in exceptionally limited quantities so that Blunk’s stunning and rare designs could become part of the collections of a new generation of women.
