Description from Manufactum
A real find – beechwood folding chairs.
The model for these beautiful, light-weight chairs with their special double-folding feature was discovered in a Belgian flea-market. They were at one time popular in France and Belgium for use in the garden and on the beach. They weigh a mere 2 kg. and can be folded really small – first the seating area, then the back – so they’re easy to carry around, for example on a bicycle or canoe (or, of course, in the car). A folding chair, due to its ‘makeshift’ nature, can sometimes be disappointingly uncomfortable. Not this one! It has a number of first-class features: like superlative cloth, specially woven and cut for this chair by a mill in Hessia, Germany, and a slightly arched back support rest that ensures a comfortable sitting position. It has good looks too: notice the slim struts with their rounded ends – unusual nowadays.
Varnished beechwood frame, half-linen (370 g/sq.m.) seat and back.
