Description from Design Within Reach
Formerly of Studio/Louise Campbell, Scandinavian designer Thomas Bentzen established his own studio in 2010. He is a co-founder of the design collective Remove and has exhibited his products all over the world. “I like to create objects that are functional and simple and meet the human need while in use – and simply create joy while not,” he says. The Around Table (2011) reflects that aesthetic with its practical yet elegant design. The shape and frame give the table a warm and welcoming appearance, and the raised lip around the top keeps items from falling off the edge. The small opening in this bentwood edge is for power cords or, as Peter Bonnén of Muuto likes to joke, “If you spill your wine, you can pour it back into the glass.”
