These wood chips come from a Japanese Cypress, and exude a resinous fragrance, lighter than that of the Cedar tree, and a delicate citrus scent, extremely relaxing except for insects, who really don’t like it. Less obvious than lemongrass, much more subtle, Aomori Hiba is a well-known natural mosquito repellent. This wood also has germicidal, sanitizing and deodorizing properties, which makes it a great air purifier for home. All these virtues explain why the Japanese consider it sacred, just like its cousin the Hinoki, whose slow growth lasts for centuries. This legendary variety is also used to build temples.
