Zokin have been used traditionally in Japanese homes, schools and temples to hand clean tatami mats and wooden floors. They are made from pieces of fabrics being layered and then stitched together with sashiko stitches.
Estimated age is mid 1900s.
Zokin can be used as table mats, heat proof mats, dining mats or incorporated into your boro projects.
They are extremely beautiful for their colour, thickness and stitch work.
