A while back, a reader clued us in to Dhoku Rugs, a purveyor of reinvented, modern kilims made with natural dyes and organic materials, which she discovered on a trip to Turkey: "My husband and I stumbled into their store in the Grand Bazaar while on vacation in Istanbul and bought the Dhoku Pera, which is beautiful in our midcentury modern living room." Dhoku Rugs owner Mehmet Gureli also has another shop called Ethnicon, where he sells repurposed patchwork vintage kilims. In the US, both the Dhoku and Ethnicon lines are available through Toga Rugs, in San Francisco, they can be found at Wynne Alex Home and in LA at Environment.
